Five More Books to Look for this Fall

by K.M. Zahrt

It’s going to be a great fall for reading. Enjoy! And tweet me your thoughts on these books to @KMZahrt when the time comes; I’d love to know what you think.

  1. MaddAddam by Margaret Atwood will be released on September 3. She is a winner of the Booker Prize as well as many, many other honors. Atwood, who is still producing, will be in the literary canon for a long time.
  2. Salinger by David Shields and Shane Salerno (Biography) will also be released on September 3. Notoriously reclusive author of The Catcher in the Rye, J.D. Salinger, is the subject, and according to the Huffington Post, the book will contain details of possible posthumous works forthcoming from Salinger.
  3. Dissident Gardens by Jonathan Lethem will be released on September 10. Lethem is a MacArthur “genius.” He won the National Book Critics Circle Award with the novel Motherless Brooklyn.
  4. Enon by Paul Harding will be released on September 10. This will be Harding’s first work of fiction since he won the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction with the novel Tinkers.
  5. The Valley of Amazement by Amy Tan will be released on November 5. She is the bestselling author of The Joy Luck Club. Tan is another novelist who will remain in the literary canon who is still producing.
