Here are a few MLK Day celebrations happening in Michigan today:

In Allendale/Grand Rapids: Silent March at Grand Valley State University
GVSU has commemoration activities all week. If you have a chance, join or witness the Silent March today from 1-1:30 p.m. at the Allendale Campus.

In Ann Arbor/Ypsilanti: MLK President’s Luncheon at Eastern Michigan University
EMU has a full week of commemoration activities beginning today with the President’s Luncheon. The luncheon will feature an address from “renown educator Mr. Geoffrey Canada.” The President’s Luncheon will be today at 11:45 a.m. in the EMU Student Center Grand Ballroom. It is open to community members for $20. Tickets are still available.

In Kalamazoo: March to MLK Park
“Marchers will start at 3:30 p.m. at the flagpole at WMU’s Kanley Chapel, then move to Kalamazoo College’s Red Square, at the corner of Thompson and Academy St., at 4 p.m., and then march as a group to MLK Park at corner of Rose Street and West Michigan Ave., at 4:30 p.m.” (Zipp, Mlive.com)

In Muskegon: MLK Celebration at Muskegon High School
Today from 3-6 p.m. at Muskegon High School, there will be an MLK celebration featuring “performances by the MLK Community Choir, Muskegon alumnus and Christian rap artist James ‘Timothy’ White, and choirs from Muskegon High School and Muskegon Middle School” (Arino, MLive.com).
