Once upon a time–
of all the good days in the year,
on Christmas Eve–
she sat busy in his house,
wondering–
of all the good places,
how had she gotten there?

What malcontents–
of all the good holiday cheer,
at home, alone–
she sat busy there,
wrapping–
of all the good presents,
a gift for his ex, a teddy bear.

In a long-lost life–
of all the good people of the Earth,
in distant times–
she was well-liked, in good health,
wandering–
of all the good paths,
how had she forgotten heart?

What misgivings–
of all the good, available pairs,
with him, alone–
could she onward bear,
hoping–
of all the good livings,
a gift for her could soon appear?

Once upon a time–
of all the good days in the year,
on Christmas Eve–
she sat busy in his house,
wondering–
of all the good places,
how had she gotten there?
